SNSD’s Sooyoung keeps her promise to Park Seung Il
SNSD’s Sooyoung kept a promise she made to former basketball coach, Park Seung Il.
Park was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2002 amidst a busy career as one of the youngest Korean basketball coaches.
On the December 7th episode of SBS’s “Strong Heart,” Sooyoung revealed, “I wanted to visit him after finding out that he liked SNSD. When I first saw him, the disease had progressed to the point where only his eyeballs were movable. His cheeks shook the minute he saw me and I’ve been visiting him ever since. He has a girlfriend of five years. It’s truly a movie-like story.”
Sooyoung ended her segment by promising that should she win a “Strong Heart” trophy on the show, she would gift it to Park. She eventually won the talk battle and later released a picture of the delivery, proving that she kept her promise. The picture was revealed on an internet cafe, titled “ALS with Park Seung Il,” and it shows Sooyoung posing with Park while holding the “Strong Heart” trophy.
